What Does It Do?
This application patches Extensions Manager version 2.0.1 by applying the following modifications:
—It adds the ability to recognize the new folders introduced in System 7.5.
—It adds a few extra filetype codes so that it will recognize fonts and some other files.
—It changes the EM panel slightly, so that the buttons are closer together and the scrolling list is longer.
—It changes the version number from 2.0.1 to 2.0.3, to avoid confusions.
The application will create a patched copy of Extensions Manager and will name it "Extensions Manager 2.0.3". It will not patch the original file. The patch changes only editable resources; the code is not touched in any way.
Before Using the Patched Version
Before using the patched version enable everything (extensions, control panels, fonts, system extensions, etc.) with the unpatched version or with version 3.
Why Patch It?
When Apple bundled Extensions Manager 3 with System 7.5 it changed the way it worked. In version 2 you could add/subtract extension sets to/from the currently enabled set; in version 3 enabling one set will disable the previous set. This makes creating or updating extension sets a real bore. (Typical of Apple—but that's another story!).
There're lots of fancier extensions managers out there, but I like the way EM works: it's small, simple and efficient. If you don't use the EM Extension it will use RAM only when needed, it creates no potential source of conflict, and it's free.

USE THIS PATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK! The patched version works fine on my machine with System 7.5.3, but there's no guarantee of ANY sort that it will work on yours. This patch has NOT been approved or endorsed either by the author of Extensions Manager, Ricardo Batista, or by Apple Computer, Inc.

The patched version is called 2.0.3 merely to avoid confusion; it is not a revision of version 2.0.1. Therefore you are not allowed to distribute the patched version! The patched version is for your personal use only!
